20 Bucket List Ideas To Help You Live Your Best Life

Top 20 experiences you need to have before…well, whenever, really!

There are many things that people have on their own, individual bucket lists and throughout their lives, they will tick some off and work towards doing the rest.

However, there is also a universal bucket list that everybody must aim to achieve, and there is absolutely no deadline as to when you do each one. Here are ForeverHerDay's top 20 experiences that you absolutely have to have at some point in your life.

If you don’t, you’re just missing out…life is what you make it.

1. Camp Under The Stars

Whether you do it in the UK or somewhere a little more exotic, there is nothing quite like being at one with the great outdoors and getting away from the light pollution of the big city to see the stars in all of their glory. The beauty of this is that you can do it anywhere, and whenever you want, for pretty much free.

2. See the northern lights

One of the most beautiful natural occurrences in the world, it is a display that will stay with you forever. Think of it is the most stunning firework display that you will ever lay your eyes on, with an ethereal twist of dancing shapes. If you really want to make it an experience to remember, camp in a glass igloo and watch them from the warmth and comfort of your bed.

    3. See animals in the wild in Kenya

A soothing, exciting and truly beautiful sight to behold – you haven’t seen animals until you’ve seen them in their natural habitat. Take a safari in Kenya to become part of the wild landscape for a short time.

      4. Watch the sunset in Ibiza

One of the most famous, atmospheric sunsets in the world – seeing the sun go down past the horizon in Ibiza is a hedonistic and truly atmospheric experience that will stay with you forever. The best bit? You can even do it with one of the best cocktails on the island in your hand.

        5. Visit the Salt Mine in Krakow

A gorgeous UNESCO site, the Salt Mines are quite literally what the title says, only they have full rooms, chandeliers, chapels and mini dwellings carved into the salt itself. A stunning yet very different place to visit.

          6. Pay your respects at Auschwitz

This experience can be quite upsetting, but is a very important lesson and life experience to have in order to understand that we must remain tolerant of others in any way, shape or form in order to pave the way for a better future. Poignant, touching and eye-opening, it is a true must that demands respect at all times. In order to be a better nation, we must understand the faults of the past and learn from them – this is the perfect place to do so.

            7. Visit the Grand Canyon

Don’t write the Grand Canyon off as an overrated tourist spot, for it became a tourist spot for a reason, and that reason is it is awe-inspiring. Often a place where people feel a spiritual connection to the world around them, it is a natural wonder of the world that is nothing short of phenomenal.

              8. Do route 66

An iconic road trip that so many long to do, but there’s one rule: if you’re going to do it, do it properly and settle for nothing less than an iconic American car to do it in. Take in the desert and experience the peaceful isolation as you ride from town to town. If you want to go all the way, only an all-American soundtrack will do.

                9. Swim in the Mediterranean

Some may read this and think it’s one that is more of a given than an experience you must have, but so many people don’t actually swim in the ocean, more just dip their feet. The med is one of the warmest, most beautiful seas in the world and wraps around stunning destinations, making it the perfect body of water to get your swim on.

                  10. Visit the Lake District

If you live near this breathtaking part of the UK, you may not think it is a big deal, but take a step back and see it for what it is; one of the most tranquil, beautiful parts of the world that absolutely deserves a visit.

                    11. Attend the Full Moon party in Thailand

Hedonistic, a little wild and completely unlike anything you’ve experienced before, the Full Moon Party is all about letting go and having fun. You will drink out of a bucket for the night and probably have a sore head the next morning, but it’s totally worth it.

                      12. Do Glastonbury

An absolute must for any self-confessed music lover, Glastonbury will give you a music festival experience that hits you right in your soul. Spiritual, happy and nothing short of cooler than cool, you will see some of the best names in music whilst feeling like you’re on top of the world.

                        13. See the Eiffel Tower

It’s one of the most famous structures in the world, but you will absolutely not understand its beauty until you see it in person. Looking up may give you a little bit of vertigo, and you don’t even have to go up the tower itself to appreciate it, but its unique atmosphere and sophistication is something that will blow your mind.

                          14. Climb to the summit of a mountain…any mountain

Pick a mountain and do it. Don’t think about it, don’t worry about it, just do it. There will no feeling in the world like the sense of accomplishment you get when you reach the summit, and you will quite literally feel like you’re on top of the world.

                            15. Dive underwater

There is a whole world beneath the waves and experiencing it hands on is something that everyone must do once. Conquer any fears and see how our fishy friends live, mostly in a world of serenity that is the polar opposite to life on land. Want an adrenaline rush, too? Swim with the sharks and not just the fishes – a natural high that will exhilarate you to the core.

                              16. Visit somewhere that is completely different to where you live

If you’re from the east, visit the west – if you live in a hot country, visit a freezing one. Broaden your horizons and experience the different facets of the world that you wouldn’t see unless you went out of your comfort zone.

                                17. Watch the sunrise from a hot air balloon

In a world that is all about the sunset, take to the skies in a hot air balloon and watch how the day starts. A wonder that is full of promise, it has to be finished off with some champagne and strawberries in order to really get the best from this experience.

                                18. Cliff dive

If the water is deep enough, throw caution to the wind and dive into the seas from a cliff. Pure adrenaline comes as standard and you will want to climb back up and dive straight back in.

                                  19. Sail through Venice

A totally unique corner of the globe, Venice is something that should be on everybody’s to do list. Where else can you sail between your hotel and your restaurant of choice for the night? A heavenly maze of cafes, canals and unique shops and bars, it is the best place to get your sea legs moving.

                                    20. Take a bite out of the Big Apple and go to New York

You haven’t experienced the city until you’ve experienced New York, and even just one visit is a must. The Manhattan skyline is something else and is evocative of a myriad of emotions, whilst the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building will make you feel like you’ve become the star in your very own movie. Visit central park for serenity in the city and people watch to your hearts content.
